Listening to smooth jazz in coffee shops lead me to chillout and downtempo, and when my daughter was born I didn't have as much time to DJ in bars so I filled the gap by hanging out in chillout rooms on turntable.fm, where vaporwave began to spread. The water is the hard part unless you're fine camping with lots of people. Then I'll agree that Parker Canyon Lake, Madera Canyon or Patagonia are good for this.
