The most successful one I have right now is writing streak. The old version of the app grew to 5000+ users mostly via word of mouth. I don't think many of them were very active, since I didn't do a good job supporting and debugging the app (because of my health stuff, and also some character flaws I guess). You won't be able to test the javascript function itself from within python, but you can exercise the front-end code using something like cypress (https://cypress.io) or the older but still respectable selenium (https://selenium.dev). Source: over 1 year ago
