As we move through 2025, gamers and server hosts are increasingly searching for better ways to get around NAT restrictions. While Playit.gg remains popular thanks to its plug-and-play tunneling, new alternatives are offering lower latency, more features, and broader applications. Many users are now exploring options that eliminate the need for port forwarding or provide more control over server settings. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago

Originally I wanted to host it on a dedicated machine (Lenovo M710q Tiny PC). It's the model with a i3-7100t and I know it's more than capable of running the server. Though safety is what came to mind immediately. DDoS protection, hackers, whatever else. I wanted to use playit.gg instead of port forwarding for some safety and also using a domain I bought on name.com. Source: over 1 year ago
I never quite liked online hosting services and wanted to host my own server for me and my friends, but couldn't due to my internet provider not allowing port forwarding. I have since discovered playit.gg and it works flawlessly, hosting it on my personal rig (Ryzen 5 3600 @4ghz and 16GB DDR4) while allowing the server to use 8gb (overkill for under 10 players but I had them free anw). In simple I crated an online server and used playit.gg so I didn't have to port forward, I can easily join the server with my direct connect, however if a friend puts in the IP and port it can't connect, only way to connect is if I invite my friend to a lobby then join the server. I have previously been able to work playit.gg with geysermc on my windows machine and now I want to move my minecraft server over to a pc with ubuntu. My first issue is that when I try to use the last line to install playit.gg, I get the error "E: Unable to locate package playit." I did try searching elsewhere and couldn't find anyone else with this issue (I'm new to ubuntu so I don't know anything). The next... Source: over 1 year ago

I have been trying for hours(feels more like days at this point) to get my server working. I can join it with no issues whatsoever, but it's completely invisible for anybody else on the internet (don't know and don't care about LAN). The server is set for internet, not LAN, I've tried both port forward and tunneling with playit.gg. For reference my service provider is Orange and I have a livebox 4. PLEASE SOMEBODY... Looks like your ISP put you in the CG-NAT. I have the same problem too but you can use this wonderful service for opening your server to Publix without forwarding ports and it's free! (Not an ad I just love this service). Source: almost 2 years ago
