I think some of your pain might be alleviated with the PVS Tech Preview that’s going on. It’s specifically PVS in Azure. I know that’s full Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops Service (CVADS) vs CVADS Standard in Azure but it’s something to look into. I use the Contexts [1] app, couldn't live without it (not affiliated...) It shows me all open Windows and in which Desktop, in its Sidebar (I've disabled the macOS dock.)
