Like every programmer before me, I created a to-do list app of course! This won't really work in your head so you will need to use some tools, I used to do this on paper, then in a text file where you can indent tasks to show they are a subtask of a bigger task, and finally I started using Tatask (Full disclosure I built it). I agree with others in this thread that app-based is probably the way to go - especially if you're just building for one person. Just be sure she enables push notifications with the same settings as SMS. Others have mentioned Frontline (FYI: this product is end-of-sale), Crisp, and SpokePhone.
