  3.The only way I've come across to document the amount of time spent is to use timesheets or time tracking softwares. Some examples of time tracking softwares are Toggl, Hubstaff, and Time Doctor.   I use RSS-to-Email then read them in my mail clients. Most things get routed to a few folders without notifications that I open when I want news.   I use my own RSS-to-Email service https://feedmail.org/. I've written about my setup and why I prefer RSS-to-Email on my blog nearly a decade ago https://kevincox.ca/2013/06/27/email-as-rss-reader/.
